At one point, Lauren walked in front of Simon who reached out a hand as if to stop her and to continue the conversation.

Lauren, who was clad in a black padded jacket and a beanie, held her hand up to her face as if she had enough of talking, and Simon walked behind her to take a phone call.

Eric, meanwhile, focused on their beloved Yorkshire Terrier and held the lead in one hand and a face mask in the other.

According to onlookers, the pair appeared to be ‘very fraught’ and walked at a distance to each other following the conversation.

A passer-by told The Sun: ‘Simon started to walk off and Lauren was walking behind him. Then he stopped and they seemed to be rowing. Simon had a face like thunder.

‘It appeared to be very fraught. Lauren turned to move off and Simon put out his hand as if he didn’t want her to walk off.

‘Lauren put her hand up close to her mouth and made a gesture. Simon looked annoyed and got out his phone and started ringing someone.’

They added that both seemed ‘pretty annoyed’ and walked in the same direction but at a distance.

However a source close to the family disputed the claims and said the couple were ‘happier than ever’.

The pal said: ‘Simon and Lauren weren’t having a tiff at all. They are happier than ever.

‘They have been together throughout lockdown and, with Eric, were just walking in the park – like so many families at the current time.’

Distraction: Simon later took a phone call on the dog walk

A spokesperson for Simon also denied claims there was a heated discussion and told MailOnline: ‘There was no row or argument whatsoever.’

Simon has been with Lauren since 2013. She has another son Adam, from her marriage to Andrew Silverman.

Last week, the X Factor creator spoke out about how he ‘nearly smashed my spine to pieces’ after breaking his back on an electric bike in August last year.

Simon admitted that he ‘couldn’t have got through’ it without girlfriend Lauren and Eric, who sweetly branded him ‘iron man’ when he first saw his dad with metal rods and screws in his back following his six hour surgery.

Speaking to ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour on Extra, Simon said: ‘It could have been a lot worse. When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly could have smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t have been able to walk.’

He recalled: ‘I knew I’d broken my back the minute I landed. It was really, really kind of sudden and it hurt.’

Simon explained, ‘You’re not supposed to move,’ but, that wasn’t the X Factor boss’ thought process at the time.

He continued: ‘I was thinking, “I’ve got to get back into the house because I can’t lie there”… and made myself kind of get carried into my bedroom, which is right there at the beginning of the house… And I’m lying there and I’m kind of passing out… It was surreal.’

Romance: Simon has been with Lauren since 2013 and recently said how supportive she has been during his recovery following his electric bike accident

Speaking about his time in hospital, the BGT judge gushed about the support he received from his girlfriend Lauren and their son.

Simon noted to Terri: ‘In fact, you and Lauren [Silverman] were outside the hospital all night long, I remember.’

Terri told him: ‘Lauren was amazing, running around after you, nursing you back to health,’ to which Simon gushed: ‘She was amazing.

‘Both her and Eric, they were like my support. I couldn’t have gotten through it without them, so we got closer.’

Now, six months later, Simon is back to work, and he admits he’s proud that America’s Got Talent carried on without him.
