Earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a special video call to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine. The couple spoke with individuals living with longterm health conditions, which put them at a higher risk during the pandemic.
Kate Middleton and Prince William spoke with Fiona Doyle, a woman with asthma, and Shivali Modha, who lives with type 2 diabetes. As a result, both are categorized as “clinically vulnerable” and at a higher risk of serious illness should they contract COVID-19. Now that the vaccine is being rolled out to those with underlying health conditions, charities including Diabetes UK and Asthma UK are making patients aware of their eligibility, and encouraging vaccination.
For the video call, Duchess Kate re-wore a dark green “Duchess” wool blazer from Smythe, with a crisp white shirt, and simple hoop earrings. Miraculously, Kate’s blazer is still available to shop in a multitude of shades, and costs just $695.
Doyle told Duchess Kate and Prince William, “I have always been somebody who truly believes in vaccines, and I truly believe in science and medicine. I think that it’s the best way to look ahead to have a much brighter future and go back to normality. I really hope that as many people as possible, when they get called up for it, take it … It’s nice to know mentally that you have that layer of protection.”

Meanwhile, Modha told the duke and duchess, “I think it’s important that we now move forward and I’m hopeful that more and more people do realize how important it is that they get their vaccination. And how lucky we are that we’re even able to access it … Just like this condition, this virus, the idea of this vaccination is new. But the more people that get it you realize that actually it is helpful.”
