Amed Rosario said his goodbye to the Mets and their fans.

The 25-year-old shortstop was part of the trade that brought Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco to the Mets on Thursday. Rosario, who was signed by the Mets as an amateur free agent in 2012, played four productive seasons in Flushing from 2017-2020.

“So much going through my mind at the moment but it’s time to embrace my new journey!” Rosario wrote on social media Thursday. “To the New York Mets Organization thank you for taking a chance with a 16 yr old kid from Santo Domingo and giving me the opportunity to do what I love. To all Mets fans, you will always have a place in my heart, New York is truly amazing. I gave you my all each and everyday I stepped in Citi Field,” Rosario wrote. “Thank you for EVERYTHING from the bottom of my heart !”

Rosario along with fellow shortstop Andres Gimenez and prospects Josh Wolf and Isaiah Greene were shipped to Cleveland as part of the blockbuster trade for Lindor, a four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner.

Rosario batted .268 with a .705 OPS. over his four seasons, but never materialized into the star the Mets hoped for. His best season came in 2019 thanks to a strong second half. He hit .287 with 30 doubles, 72 RBIs, stole 30 bases and had a .755 OPS. He is arbitration eligible for two more seasons before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

There was talk of the Mets playing Rosario more games in the outfield this season with the emergence of Gimenez. It remains to be seen where he will fit in Cleveland.
