Jungkook from K-Pop group BTS apologised for having to sit out from the band’s choreography at their London show last year.
In October, the singer suffered a heel injury and was unable to dance on the stage with his group, forced to perform seated.
Now all seven members of the boyband – RM, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook and V – have returned to the capital city for two sold-out nights in London as part of their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour.
At their first show on Saturday night, Jungkook apologised to the Army for not ‘being himself’ last year.
Speaking to a cheering crowd in Wembley stadium, the 21-year-old said: ‘I feel so sorry for the Europe tour. I felt guilty because I could not fully show my performance.
‘But I am now happy as I could finally show my real self.’
Last year, while BTS made their debut in the UK at London’s 02 Arena, Jungkook broke down in tears because he was unable to dance.
Before the concert in the O2, an announcement was made on behalf of Big Hit Entertainment, saying: ‘Approximately two hours ago following the rehearsal and sound check, Jungkook was lightly stretching in the waiting room when he collided with floor furnishings and suffered an injury to his heel.
‘Medical staff immediately responded and performed the necessary treatment. The opinion of the medical team is that while the injury is not serious, performing choreography may do further damage to the injured area. Following the advice of the medical staff, Jungkook will take part in the performance tonight but remain seated without choreography.’
The maknae sat on the left hand side of the stage on a stool, which was placed on a moving platform so he could be wheeled on and off the stage.
Jungkook did his best as his bandmates performed the intricate choreography they’re known for, singing his heart out and at points pulling off the arm-ography from his seat.
However, during the penultimate song Anpanman, it seems things got too much for him.
The idol swivelled around to face the back of the stage and was seen crying into a towel.
Luckily, the BTS boys have each other’s backs, and Jimin sprinted to comfort his bandmate, before Jungkook defied doctor’s orders and walked off the platform to join the rest of the band to sing Answer: Love Myself.
The show in Wembley tonight comes after it was revealed BTS are blessing us with another new single, Lights.
It marks their first Japanese single in four years, and we are already obsessed with it.
The song ‘conveys the message of hope that one can connect with the others through sounds and see each other’s lights whenever they close their eyes’.
There are three different limited edition versions of the single up for grabs, with one coming with a DVD of the music video – and IDOL.
The limited edition DVD version B includes the making of both the music video of Lights, while C has a 36-page photo booklet with exclusive pictures.
And, on top of all that, they are also dropping a Japanese version of Boy With Luv and IDOL.
We cannot wait.
Lights is released on 3 July.
