THOMAS LEMAR has reportedly been given a lifeline at Atletico Madrid after they snubbed the advances of three different clubs including Wolves.

Atletico were keen to recoup the £63.3million they paid for Lemar from Monaco in 2018 but none of the interested clubs could stump up the cash, according to AS.

AS also claim that now he is staying at the club, manager Diego Simeone is willing to give him another chance to prove himself.

Since his move to Spain two years ago, Lemar has fallen down the pecking order and has spent most of his time on the bench.

The French midfielder failed to provide a single goal or assist for Atletico last season.

Premier League side Wolves emerged as shock contenders to end his Spanish nightmare after he turned down a move to Porto in hope of a move to England.

They had hoped that their relationship with the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, would help them seal the deal.

Mendes was instrumental in bringing several former Atletico players to Molineux, including Raúl Jimenez, Jonny Otto and Diogo Jota.

Lemar had expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and has also been linked with Everton and Arsenal.

The Gunners had been pursuing him for a long-time and narrowly missed out on him to Atletico while he was still at Monaco.

Despite missing out on Lemar, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta managed to sign his team-mate Thomas Partey on transfer deadline day for £45m.

Bayern Munich also reportedly approached the Spanish side about taking him on loan but Atletico were only interested in a permanent deal.
