Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward have been married since June 19, 1999. They are senior members of the Royal Family and will often carry out official duties.

While they are often in the public eye, the couple have two children together who keep more of a low profile.

The couple welcomed their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, in 2003 and their son, James, Viscount Severn, was born in 2007.

As they get older, the children have been spotted at royal events such as Trooping the Colour and the Christmas Day church service.

The family are thought to have a good relationship with Queen Elizabeth II and Sophie is often considered one of her closest allies.

The Wessexes also live in Bagshot Park, which is near one of the Queen’s favourite residences, Windsor Castle.

Sophie’s children are of school age and where they’re educated could have been chosen to show their personal bond with the monarch.

Lady Louise reportedly first studied at St George’s School, which is a mixed independent school based at Windsor Castle.

She has since moved on to St Mary’s School but it is believed James now attends St George’s School.

Not only is the school near the Queen’s property, but it also has a nod to Sophie and Prince Edward as the couple married at Windsor Castle.

In a rare interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, the Countess shared details about her children’s education.

“They go to a regular school. They go to friends for sleepovers and parties,” she told the publication.

“At weekends we do lots of dog-walking and stay with friends.

“I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are.

“When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother.”

Speaking to Express.co.uk, education expert and the founder of Tassomai.com Murray Morrison also commented on the choice of school.

He explained Sophie and Prince Edward appear to be very family-orientated and may have chosen a school based on values important to them.

The expert stated: “Given the Wessexes spend a good deal of their time in the area around Windsor and Ascot, and the range of excellent schools nearby, it seems an obvious choice for them.

“Families realise the greater benefits of closeness: the ability to have more weekends together and to be able to attend events like concerts and plays.

“Certainly many families looking at private schools tend to favour options that are local.”
