Kate (played by Vicky McClure) has always been known for putting herself in risky situations, having gone undercover on numerous operations in the past on Line of Duty. Just like her colleagues DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), she made it out of the latest series of the BBC drama alive after they discovered Gill Biggeloe (Polly Walker) was ‘The Caddy’ to their greatest nemesis, H. When season six kicks off in the coming months, the AC-12 team will be continuing with their investigation into police corruption but as they get close to the truth, could newcomer DCI Jo Davidson (Kelly MacDonald) use the Detective Inspector as a bargaining chip against her co-workers?

As in previous seasons of the action-packed drama, there has always been a corrupt officer working within the force, supplying information to the Organised Crime Groups.
Especially in the case of AC-12’s investigations, the dishonest police officers have always had a link to H.
It has been confirmed DCI Davidson will be the latest character they’re going to be keeping an eye on and fans have now been given their first glimpse of the criminal adversary in action.
Posting in view of his 102,500 Twitter followers, boss Jed Mercurio shared an image of the likes of Hastings and Arnott questioning the newcomer in one of their interrogation rooms.
However, someone eagle-eyed fan has notice Kate is nowhere to be seen in the photo, so could she be bound up and being held hostage by Davidson’s staff?
In response to the picture of the interview room, the fan commented: “Concerned Kate not part of the trio, but can’t wait for series 6 to unfold.”
Another added: “Hope Kate is going back undercover,” referring to her days being a double agent in previous seasons.
Could it be the Detective Inspector was working within Davidson’s ranks but instead of being one step ahead, she was walking into a trap?
The newcomer could have very well been onto her the first day she clocked eyes on Kate, but will the beloved character’s colleagues be quick enough to realise the danger she is in.

As well as posting the picture, Jed also wrote: “AC-12 v DCI Jo Davidson. The teams go through their final warm-ups before battle commences.”
Although Davidson’s cover might not have been blown, given she would have been arrested for working with the OCG, Hastings and Arnott could have their suspicions about her.
With Kate possibly going missing and knowing she was working with the newcomer just days before, they might put two and two together and get four.
If they do discover their criminal adversary is corrupt, can they convince her to hand over the information she knows about H?

Speaking of the announcement of actress Kelly’s role in the upcoming episodes, Jed said back in November: “We’re honoured that Kelly Macdonald will join Martin, Vicky and Adrian in series six of Line of Duty.
“DCI Joanne Davidson will prove the most enigmatic adversary AC-12 have ever faced,” he added, teasing just how ruthless she will be.
Controller of BBC Drama Piers Wenger also commented on the casting of the 44-year-old, adding: “We’re delighted that Kelly Macdonald is coming on board for series six.
“She’s one of the UK’s most versatile actors and we’re excited for viewers to see what Jed’s scripts have in store for her when she joins the Line of Duty team.”
Production on the BBC drama picked up just a few weeks ago after filming was put on hold due to restrictions enforced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, will this be the Detective Inspector’s last outing as a member of AC-12 as she gets on the wrong side of Davidson?
