The world is still reeling from the sad news Chadwick Boseman has died at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.
Tributes have been pouring out for the Black Panther star, who had been diagnosed with stage three colon cancer four years ago, and it had progressed to stage four.
On Sunday night, a number of top WWE superstars paid their respects to the late actor as they referenced his role in the Marvel blockbuster by displaying the Wakanda Forever salute during the Payback event.
As former United States Champion Apollo Crews made his way to the ring for the opening match, he struck the pose on a number of occasions.
Then, during his clash with Bobby Lashley – who won the title that night – he also again crossed his arms across his chest, looking up at the sky before delivering a standing moonsault.
After the match ended, Lashley celebrated with his Hurt Business teammates MVP and Shelton Benjamin as the group posed for photos with the champ holding his new title.
In one of the snaps, the trio could all be seen striking the Wakanda Forever salute in another poignant moment.
The likes of Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey and Barack and Michelle Obama have paid tribute to the actor, as well as MCU stars such as Chris Hemsworth, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans and Letitia Wright.
Twitter also stated that they have put #BlackPanther emoji back on to the hashtag so that ‘fans can watch and talk about his legacy together.’
Chadwick’s final tweet read: ‘It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
‘Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
‘A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.
‘It was the honour of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.
‘He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.
‘The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.’
