Coronation Street fans will have their patience tested this week as the ITV soap is undergoing a huge schedule change.
Not only will Corrie fans have to get their heads around the fact that come 7.30pm, they won’t be getting their usual Weatherfield fix, they also have to contend with the fact that they are losing a whole episode of the soap this week.
So what is the reason for these big changes?
Why is Coronation Street not in its usual time slot this week?
Corrie is moving back to a later time in the TV schedule for one week only to make way for the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals.
The semi-finals kick off on Monday, airing every night until Friday, when the finalists will have been chosen.
Corrie usually airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and again at 8.30pm, but these timings wouldn’t have allowed BGT to air their full semi-final shows.
What time is Coronation Street on tonight?
Coronation Street will air at 9pm every night this week, in-between the main semi-final shows, which will air from 7.30pm to 9pm, and the results show, which will air from 9.30pm to 10pm.
It means there will be just five episodes of Corrie, rather than the usual six, but the drama expected to unravel in this week’s late-night specials will undoubtedly make up for this, with the most-anticipated storyline being the reveal Rana Habeeb’s killer.
Corrie is back to normal next week, returning after this week’s shocks and twists with its usual Monday evening episodes at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
The Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals air every night this week on ITV1, with the grand final airing on Sunday 2 June at 7.30pm.
Coronation Street airs every night this week at 9pm.
