Lat Friday, Prince Harry traveled from his home in London to Rome, Italy. Whilst there, the Prince participated in the ninth annual Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup. This charity, that was co-founded by Prince Harry himself in 2006, seeks to raise awareness and money to support youth in Africa who are suffering from HIV. Though the Prince was traveling for a very worthy cause, he did catch some heat for his decision to travel so soon after the birth of his son, baby Archie.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their beautiful baby boy into the world just three short weeks ago on March 6, 2019. The pair have both expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude about their new, royal bundle of joy. “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.” the Prince informed reporters just a few short hours after Archie was born. Markle echoed Prince Harry’s thoughts by gushing that she had “the two best guys in the world.” Close friends of the royal family have stated that the pair are absolutely loving this new phase in their lives and adjusting to parenthood quite nicely.
But, not everyone agrees with Prince Harry’s decision to leave home so quickly after baby Archie was born. While at the Sentebale Polo Cup, Nacho Figueras (an Argentine polo player and long-time friend of the Prince) was asked how Markle was dealing with parenting baby Archie solo while Prince Harry was away. The reporter went on to say that traveling internationally so soon after a baby’s birth was not something most fathers would do, calling Prince Harry’s parenting decisions into question.
Figueras immediately shut the reporter down and rushed to the defense of his close friend. “That’s an assumption that you’re making. I am a father of four and sometimes duty calls. This is 24 hours away from the house, I think he’s doing just fine. He’s a wonderful father. I’m very impressed and he’s here for an amazing cause. I don’t see that as a problem.” the polo player stated, effectively shutting down any further implications that Prince Harry wasn’t making the right parenting choices. But the defense didn’t end there. Figueras went one step further and extended his love and support of Prince Harry to the world via Instagram. On Sunday, Figueras posted a beautiful message about Prince Harry.
“The world thinks they know everything about this man. I have been fortunate enough to spend enough time over the years to learn and understand the man he really is, a kind, generous, compassionate person who is constantly thinking about how to make the world a better place, whether that is helping kids in Africa, talking openly about mental health, encouraging children or talking about climate change and the things that we all human beings need to change for the next generations. I see him do that over and over again and it is truly inspiring. I am honored to be your friend and let’s keep fighting because if we all fight together love always wins.” the professional polo player wrote about his long-time friend.
Truly we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. We are sure that Prince Harry and Markle will continue to make the best choices from themselves and for baby Archie. They should be free to do so without the intense judgment that accompanies constant scrutiny. We’re glad to see that they have such a strong support system who is ready and willing to jump to their defense when they are in need.
