BBC series The Fall was created, written and directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Allan Cubitt. The show first debuted back in 2013 and quickly captured the nation’s imagination with a sophisticated serial killer on the loose in Belfast and taunting the police with his crimes. Netflix UK is currently streaming all three seasons of The Fall, allowing viewers to watch the tense cat-and-mouse game between the serial killer and a police detective reaching its shocking climax.
Who is in the cast of The Fall?
DSI Stella Gibson – Gillian Anderson
Gillian Anderson leads the cast of The Fall as the dogged English detective DSI Stella Gibson, who become obsessed with catching the killer taking the lives of young women across the Northern Irish capital.
Anderson was already a household name thanks to The X-Files and her portrayal of FBI Agent Dana Scully but The Fall was something of a TV career renaissance for the American-British actress.
The star has become a national treasure and is also known for her roles in Sex Education, Bleak House, The Last King of Scotland, Hannibal and American Gods.
She will next be taking on the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher in the forthcoming series of The Crown on Netflix.
Paul Spector – Jamie Dornan
Jamie Dornan was propelled into the international spotlight thanks to his chilling performance as the good-looking, cold-blooded killer Paul Spector.
Since The Fall, Dornan went on to take the highly-coveted role of Christian Grey in the 50 Shades Grey trilogy before starring in Death and Nightingales and movies A Private War and Anthropoid.
Jim Burns – John Lynch
Actor John Lynch takes on the role of fellow police officer Jim Burns, who holds a torch for Stella despite her indifference.
Lynch, who some viewers have mistaken for retired footballer Eric Cantona, has had a long and distinguished career with roles in the likes of Tin Star, Medici, The Terror, The Trials of Jimmy Rose and Best in which he took on the role of player George Best.
Sally Ann Spector – Bronagh Waugh
Taking on the role of the unsuspecting wife Sally Ann Spector is Bronagh Waugh.
Prior to The Fall, Waugh was best known for her work in Hollyoaks and has subsequently appeared in ITV’s crime drama Unforgotten, Supernatural and will be starring in the forthcoming David Tennant drama Des.
Katie Benedetto – Aisling Franciosi
Aisling Franciosi plays the teenage nanny Katie Benedetto, who works for the Spectors and embarks on an affair with Paul.
Franciosi has gone on to find fame as Lyanna Stark in Game of Thrones, Legends, Clique and Genius.
Tom Anderson – Colin Morgan
Colin Morgan plays fellow police officer Tom Anderson, who become romantically entangled with Stella.
Morgan is no stranger to screens with roles in Merlin, Humans, The Living and the Dead and The Crown.
Reed Smith – Archie Panjabi
Acclaimed actress Archie Panjabi plays another member of the investigating team Reed Smith, who is trying to track down Spector and gets close to Stella.
Panjabi is well known on both sides of the Atlantic for her work in The Good Wife, Blindspot, Shetland, Bend It Like Beckham and will be appearing in I Know This Much Is True.
Glen Martin – Emmett J Scanlan
Emmett J Scanlan portrays Glen Martin and has also had parts in Peaky Blinders, Hollyoaks, Safe and Gangs of London.
Matt Eastwood – Stuart Graham
Actor and production Stuart Graham plays Matt Eastwood and is likely to be known to audiences for his roles in Thirteen, Professionals, The Frankenstein Chronicles and The Last Post.
Danielle Ferrington – Niamh McGrady
Niamh McGrady takes on the role of Danielle Ferrington after starring in Holby City, Maze and Crossing Lines.
Mary McCurdy – Siobhan McSweeney
Siobhan McSweeney takes on the part of Mary McCurdy and the actress is likely to be familiar with audiences for her part as stern nun and teacher Sister Michael in Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls.
Morgan Monroe – Ian McElhinney
Ian McElhinney stars as Morgan Monroe and has starred in Game of Thrones, The Deceived and Derry Girls.
Other cast members include Ruth Bradley as Wallace, Aisling Bea as Nurse Sheridan, Laura Donnelly as Sarah Key, Jonjo O’Neill as Tom Stagg and Valene Kane as Rose Stagg.
