James Bond fans are eagerly awaiting the next addition to the franchise. This November will see the 26th film in the franchise – and the fifth film for Daniel Craig. However, after No Time To Die has come to an end, fans aren’t quite sure what is going to happen to the character.

In the past few months a number of rumours have been circling the internet regarding who could take over the role.

Outlander star Sam Heughan has been the frontrunner for most-likely actors to take on the role.

With his growing popularity it would make sense for the young Scot to become the next face of the franchise.

However his popularity may have been stumped already by an already iconic British film star: Idris Elba.

Elba shot into stardom with the incredible performances he displayed in TV show Luther.

Since then the Hollywood star has appeared in an innumerable amount of flicks, including Thor, Pacific Rim, and the Fast and Furious franchise.

Now it has been revealed his odds on becoming the next Bond have been slashed.

The huge actor has now been granted 10/1 odds on becoming the next 007 to hit screens.

Speaking about these odds, Alex Apati of Ladbrokes explained: “Idris Elba has been there or thereabout at the head of the Bond betting in the last few years and we’re not yet ruling him out for the role.”

Of course, Elba does not have quite as promising odds as Heughan – or indeed McMafia star James Norton – but his odds could improve.

Despite these three male actors having incredible odds on becoming the next Bond, it has also been suggested a woman could take the role.

Previously the chances of a female Bond arriving on cinema screens were at 12/1.

Now, odds on a woman becoming the next James – or Jane – Bond have been slashed to 8/1.

While just preliminary, Mary Poppins star Emily Blunt has the best odds on becoming Bond in the future.

The Disney star has an incredible 66/1 on becoming the first female James Bond.

Considering Bond has been male since his inception, seeing a woman in the role may be too much for fans of the franchise to accept.

Speaking out on the matter, Apati commented once again on Blunt’s chances.

He said: “We wouldn’t be surprised to see a female Bond replace Daniel Craig with Emily Blunt looking most likely to do exactly that.”

If Blunt is the next Bond, will many other things in the franchise change?

James Bond No Time To Die will be released November 12 2020.
