Season ten’s 16th episode, A Certain Doom, is expected to round out the series with the final confrontation between Hilltop and the Whisperers.
Although post-production on the current season has been delayed, AMC has assured fans the epic finale will be released at some point in 2020.
During the unexpected hiatus, former star David Morrissey has revealed some details about his memorable tenure on The Walking Dead.
David has since landed roles in popular series such as Good Omens and Inside No.9, but is perhaps best known for his performance as the Governor.

The Governor served as a primary antagonist throughout seasons three to five of The Walking Dead, and his iron grip over Woodbury led to some of the series’ highest body counts.
He retained control over his faction by only allowing in lone survivors, and persecuted Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) and the Alexandrians with several executions.
Despite the likes of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Alpha (Samantha Morton) proving just as sinister, David Morrissey insisted the Governor would always come out on top.
During this year’s virtual Wizard World conference, the former TWD star confirmed he still thought the Governor was the best villain the show’s seen so far.
He said: “Out of those villains, obviously the Governor would wipe the floor with everybody.”
The actor also touched on the continuing debate about whether Rick Grimes’ former best friend Shane (Jon Bernthal) was actually a villain, before he was killed in season two.
He continued: “What a great actor. I never got a chance to work with Jon, I think he’s a fantastic actor, really great.
“But that dynamic, which started off in Season one, whether he’s a bad guy… he did some terrible things. That set the tone.”

Even though Negan was famously introduced at the end of season six by executing two survivors, Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun), he has since reformed after eight years in solitary confinement.
Meanwhile, the Governor was killed by Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Lilly (Audrey Marie Anderson) at the end of season four with no chance of redemption.
He even instigated one of the show’s cruellest moments when he killed Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) father Hershel (Scott Wilson), something fans have still not forgiven TWD for.
David Morrissey elaborated on his portrayal of the Governor and explained the process of getting into the psyche of one of the series’ most sadistic villains.

He said: “The important thing I think, as an actor, is you never judge your characters. So you never say to yourself, ‘This is a bad man;. Because everything you’re doing, you’re doing for — you think — the good reason.
“He’s a man that has a town that he’s protecting, that he will do everything he can to protect that town, and he will convince himself that they are for the right reasons.”
After the death of Alpha, Whisperer lieutenant Beta (Ryan Hurst) could rival the Governor in terms of his ferocity, though he isn’t expected to escape the season finale alive.
Season 11 is set to adapt Robert Kirkman’s Commonwealth arc from the original comics, so fans could be introduced to yet another ruthless villain when the series eventually continues.
The Walking Dead season 10 will conclude on AMC in 2020.
