Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan took to social media today to wish his mother Gabrielle a very happy birthday.

The 55-year-old TV presenter sent his followers into a spin with a picture of the pair, who were posing alongside a very famous A-list celebrity.

The outspoken TV host said that he had caused his mother a lot of “stress” over the years but felt he had made up for it by introducing her to a host of famous faces.

In the picture that accompanied the birthday post, the mother and son duo could be seen with Hollywood actor Sean Penn.

Presumably a fan of the Oscar-winning actor, his mum beamed as she posed for a picture in between the pair.

Piers looked smart in a suit and tie, while his mum looked radiant in a cream top and pretty patterned scarf.

Alongside the social media snap, the GMB presenter wrote: “Happy Birthday to my fabulous mother.

“I’ve put her through a lot of stress but to make up for it, I make sure she meets a lot of movie stars.”

Instagram users rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts and wished Piers’ mum a happy birthday.

Despite their being a movie star in the picture, many fans were more impressed by Gabrielle’s youthful appearance, with some saying she could be his sister.

One user said: “Omg she doesn’t look old enough to be your mum…she looks great.”

Sharing a similar thought, another fan added: “She looks like your sister.”

A third social media said: “I hope I look like your mother at her age! She looks fabulous.”

“She looks younger than you.” a fourth fan cheekily remarked.
