Kyle Richards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is not afraid to speak her mind. The last OG of the Los Angeles-based franchise has been critical of Denise Richards for running away after drama came her way. On the latest episode of the Bravo series, Kyle used a derogatory term to refer to Denise, which has gotten her major backlash amongst fans.
Why did Kyle Richards apologize?
On the RHOBH episode that aired on Wednesday, April 6, Kyle referred to Denise as a ragamuffin. This term refers to a child in ragged clothes. Kyle was taking a dig at Denise because she has a very relaxed look on the show. In contrast, many of the Housewives have a whole glam team to make them look spectacular at the events they attend.
After the episode aired, Kyle took to Twitter to explain what the word meant and why she used it.
“My mom used to call me that when I looked messy,” Kyle tweeted. “She would say, ‘Don’t run around like a ragamuffin.’ Doesn’t make it right that I said that. Not nice. Denise is beautiful, no doubt. The margaritas, exhaustion and emotions not bringing out the best in me.”
Denise followed up “going down memory lane” and sharing old photoshoots where she served beauty and fashion. She even used the word ragamuffin as a hashtag in a direct call out to Kyle, who ended up sliding into the comments and apologizing.
“Denise, you are absolutely beautiful. There is absolutely no doubt about that,” she wrote. “I was exhausted, emotional and felt everyone was coming at me. I got upset because I thought you, of all people, would get what I was saying because you, yourself, say you don’t get the glam thing and just wear a messy top knot. So I didn’t get the sudden change. With that said, I still regret that comment and was not the best version of myself that night. My apologies.”
Kyle Richards calls Denise Richards out
Ahead of the RHOBH Season 10 premiere, there was another thing working Kyle. As the show has been filming for months, there were rumors coming out of the production that Denise had quit the series. All of this happened after it was reported that Brandi Glanville alleged she hooked up with Denise. Rumors around the show pointed to Denise not wanting to film with the ladies due to all the drama, something Kyle completely slammed.
“I feel like when it got hot in the kitchen, she left,” Kyle told Entertainment Tonight. “Her kind of walking off and not wanting to participate didn’t really sit well with the rest of us who show up every day.”
Kyle has been with the show since the first season and has showcased her life, even confronting her own sister on the show. She didn’t feel it was fair to run away from cameras.
“I get frustrated when people don’t show up, because that’s what we signed up for,” she adds. “There were so many times where I would have loved to not show up, and so many people I would have loved to not be around at the time, but I never once have done that in 10 years. It was a little frustrating to me.”
Denise clapped back on Twitter saying, “I didn’t run from anything. I didn’t give them the answers they wanted, I felt like I was on trial at many dinners. Onward and upward… agree to disagree… but don’t keep coming at one person [in] every situation.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
