How to Get Away with Murder is ending its run on ABC soon after five seasons. The show, which earned Viola Davis critical acclaim for her role as Annalise Keating, only has a few more episodes to wrap up its storylines. A possible hidden clue has surfaced and may connect Annalise’s sister-in-law, Hannah Keating (Marcia Gay Harden), to the larger storyline in an interesting way.
The show is exploring the idea that Sam Keating and his sister were in a relationship
As the show comes to a close in a few weeks, it has introduced a major plotline that may change everything that viewers have come to known about the show. After being tipped off by Vivian Maddox that siblings Sam and Hannah may have been sexually involved with each other, Annalise soon finds out that a DNA test shows that Frank Delfino is the duo’s son.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Verica, who portrays the late Sam on the show, gave insight into everything that is going on right now.
Verica says he had no idea that this was going to happen and that he was just as shocked. He remembered the line about incest that Annalise used against Hannah but didn’t think much about it at the time.
“I wish I would’ve known that because as actors we look to add nuance to it, but I discovered when I received the script, mere days before filming,” he said. “The incest I remember was mentioned in season two or three but it felt like an innocent dig at the time when Annalise had said that. But therein lies the kernels of gold that Pete Nowalk has taken and repurposed and fleshed out more in-depth. I did not know any of that, in particular the Frank thing. I was completely stammered by that and then, of course, I replayed in my mind all the scenes we had, asking was there anything that could have affected how we played our scene.”
A hidden clue about all of this may also date back to season 1
An absolutely bonkers theory that was featured on the YouTube channel, Todd Foolery. As pointed out by Jess Ivanov, a detective assigned to Hannah in season 1 when she was looking into Sam’s murder, is the man that was driving the car that Annalise was told to get in when she went to Mexico.
If you remember correctly, Annalise decided not to get in the car and went in the opposite direction before being taken into custody. Now, at the time it was just assumed by most viewers that Annalise just had a bad feeling and thought she was being set up. But could she have possibly noticed that this is a man that worked at the police department back home and decided not to get in? Even if she did, she likely has no clue that this man could possibly have a connection to Hannah.
There is a possibility that this isn’t supposed to be an actual clue and this could just be an actor playing two unrelated roles. But this doesn’t seem that likely or it would be a really wild coincidence. Given the resurgence of Hannah in the show’s overall storyline, it is definitely worth noting this and it could really become a make-or-break moment in piecing together all that is going on at the moment.
