So to create a space where she could relax, the mum, from Edinburgh, tackled their drab shed, giving it a lick of paint in a pretty pink shade, called Sweet Pea from Cuprinol, while she used white paint for the door.

She attached mirrored shutters on the outside to look like windows, and added cute accessories including a pink wreath and planted flowers outside.

As her daughter is a Toy Story fan, the mum covered the front of the shed with characters from the films, while her daughter dressed up as Bo Peep and the dog was given a sheep-themed makeover.

The mum shared incredible before-and-after snaps to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, where her transformation has received more than 13,000 likes.

She said: “I decided to give my shed a make over cost just £40 for paint for my special needs daughter she’s been struggling without her routine & will be in for the next 8 weeks

“She was so happy on Easter even dressed up as bo peep from toy story & her wee doggy even took part for the surprise.

“(The windows are mirrored shutters I bought on marketplace for £15 a few years ago.)”

Fellow parents are impressed with her handiwork, and claimed it was a lovely idea to make a space where her daughter could chill out.

One person said: “Fabulous, somewhere to go and ‘just be’.”

Another wrote: “What a fantastic job you have done I bet your daughter loves it.”

A third commented: “That looks really sweet, well done.

Someone else added: “So pretty. Lovely transformation.”

While another said: "You done an amazing job she going to have loads of fun well done to you.”
