Meghan McCain has revealed she is pregnant and will continue to appear on The View from home via satellite, as she self-isolates.

"My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I'm pregnant," she shared in a statement.

She added that "starting immediately", she would be "joining the millions of Americans who are self-isolating as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19", and revealed that ABC would be allowing her and her The View co-hosts to work remotely.

"Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all,” she wrote in a social media post.

"I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with," she continued.

"I'm fortunate that my employer ABC has allowed me and my co-hosts to work remotely. I am indebted to our producers and crew. I also want to acknowledge the heroes – the doctors, nurses, grocery and pharmacy workers, journalists, police officers, firemen and military – who are on the frontline of this fight."

In 2019 Meghan, the daughter of late American senator John McCain, revealed she had suffered a miscarriage.

"I knew I was pregnant before I formally knew I was pregnant," Meghan, 34, wrote in an emotional op-ed.

"My body told me in all the ways women are familiar with. It told me in the same ways that I was miscarrying. The confirmation from my doctor came the day of that photoshoot, at the worst possible time."

The TV personality took time off from her work on The View, leading to a flurry of speculation.

"This was not supposed to be public knowledge," she added.

"I have had my share of public grief and public joy. I wish this grief—the grief of a little life begun and then lost—could remain private."
