The following story contains light spoilers for Stranger Things 3.

Joe Keery might play the best character on Netflix’s sci-fi/horror smash Stranger Things, but it’s the ups and downs of his utterly iconic hair that somehow most often mesmerizes us all. In his latest stunning move, Keery showed up at a Paris Fashion Week event with his hair looking as voluminous as ever—but with a twist: he’s got some late ’90s, NSYNC-esque blonde highlights going. And… is it crazy to say it kinda works?

Walking the carpet of a Saint Laurent event with his girlfriend Maika Monroe (a fellow modern horror star for her role in It Follows), Keery showed off yet another hair transformation, this one a massive upgrade from the last. As you might remember, back in September of last year, he showed up at a Chanel event with an inexplicable bowl cut. It was a truly dark time. While he returned to his former glory before too long (and made it fairly clear that his look was a reference to Alfred Molina’s character in Boogie Nights), the damage was done. But this new look, well, he’s rocking it.

The recently-released new trailer for Stranger Things 4 confirmed a couple things: that the show was entering production, and that David Harbour’s Chief Hopper was, indeed, returning. We don’t know much else, including when the new season is set. Could Steve Harrington possibly find his way to the ’90s? Could he actually be a trailblazer? Or is Joe Keery just a grooming and style icon on his own, dictating to everyone else what’s cool and what’s not?

That being said, we can’t particularly advise that you try this latest Keery look at home. While he might be able to pull it off, it might prove a more difficult endeavor for others—those of us without monster-hunting and ice cream-scooping experience, at least. We also don’t all have hair that somehow appears to be flowing dramatically through the wind at all times.

Keery is kicking the year off with a bang, and the rest of 2020 is looking to be similarly explosive. While we don’t know when Stranger Things 4 will land, Keery did debut a movie at Sundance last month titled Spree. Collider called the movie “American Psycho for the digital age,” which sounds pretty great. He’ll also be appearing alongside Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy this summer, directed by one of his Stranger Things executive producers in Shawn Levy.
