KATE Middleton put on a public display of unity today amid the latest royal crisis – as she power dressed in a military-style outfit.

The 38-year-old donned a sharp black Alexander McQueen skirt and jacket combo, as she and Prince William continue to act as pillars of strength for the Queen.

Carrying a bag similar to the Queen's trusty handbag and wearing a distinctive silver-buttoned jacket with a military collar, Kate looked ready for business.

She and William joined Prince Charles and Camilla this afternoon for a whistlestop tour of Leicestershire.

The royal quartet have today braved the rain and plunging temperatures to take on a number of engagements together.

Kate's powerful appearance comes as the Queen was pictured hours after her favourite grandson Peter Phillips confirmed his divorce from wife Autumn.

Her Majesty, wrapped up against the elements, was snapped putting on a brave face over the news as she boarded a train.

Prince William and his wife have been praised for stepping up as the Royal Family reels around them in recent months.

Amid the bombshell news of Megxit, Prince Andrew becoming embroiled in scandal and now the news of the first divorce within the Queen's grandchildren, the pair have radiated unity.

Today, as the four toured various spots in Leicester, Kate dressed to reflect her readiness to keep strong and continue working hard.

Charles, Camilla, William, 37, and Kate are all visiting the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Loughborough before they go their separate ways.

They had a tour by commanding officer Captain Alison Hofman, and visited some of the therapy areas, meet patients undergoing gym rehab sessions, and saw the prosthetics workshop.

William took up an invitation from Major Les Reid, as the 49-year-old "loaned" the Duke his wheelchair to shoot a few hoops.

Confidently wheeling up to the mark, William then shot and missed three times, to groans.

His father stepped in to lend a hand, grasping the back of the wheelchair and moving it a few feet closer to the basket – raising laughs from Kate, Camilla and the watching patients.

As William fluffed his fifth shot, Charles placed his hands on his son's shoulders and jokingly shook him.

Jubilant scenes followed as he appeared to get the ball through the hoop, with Charles looking on proudly and Kate cheering as the Duke joked it had taken "a while" to get his aim in.

Among many patients, they met Lieutenant Colonel Andy Williams, of the RAF Regiment, undergoing treatment after a severe head injury.

His wife Sharon, from Bath, told Camilla her husband, who is in a wheelchair, suffered a traumatic brain injury 19 months ago when a cement mixer crushed his vehicle.

The mother-of-four said: "I told her about Andy's accident and how much of a positive effect this centre has really had. Instead of giving up on him, they try here."

Run by the Ministry of Defence the centre at the Stanford Hall estate, began admitting patients in October 2018.

It provides rehab treatment to serving military who have suffered battlefield, neurological or other injuries and illnesses.

Charles and Camilla next stop was to head to the bustling Leicester Market, and meet stallholders and members of a local women's charity.

Continuing with the busy day they were set to attend a performance by local schoolchildren to celebrate the diversity of the city and unveil a commemorative plaque in the new market square.

Then the Prince of Wales was due at a reception to launch the Midlands Chapter of The British Asian Trust charity.

And the Duchess of Cornwall was set to swing by Leicester General Hospital and take part in the Royal Voluntary Service's "Big Trolley Push", as the prince visits the Soane Britain Workshop, Britain's last rattan workshop.

Finally the royal couple will reunite and visit The Cambridge Satchel Company where they will tour the workshop.

Peter Phillips today issued an emotional statement, after The Sun revealed he and wife Autumn would split.

The couple are in the process of divorcing, and Phillip will be the first of the Queen's grandchildren to do so.

They wed at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle in 2008, and decided to separate last year.
