Jeremy Vine accidentally ‘let slip’ the true identity of Hedgehog on The Masked Singer as he exclaimed ‘I can’t wait to get out of that costume’.

On Friday’s show, Jeremy seemed to let slip that he was, in fact, Hedgehog – or did he?

It all started when Storm Huntley began to talk about Saturday night’s The Masked Singer as she explained: ‘This weekend there is going to be a double elimination on The Masked Singer on ITV.

‘With Queen Bee, Octopus, Monster, Fox and Hedgehog remaining and after Saturday, there will only be three characters remaining to go into the final.’

She continued: ‘So here’s Hedgehog performing last week but which famous face is behind the hedgehog we might find out on Saturday.’

The viewers were then shown a video clip of Hedgehog performing I Would Do Anything For Love by Meatloaf.

As the clip came to an end, Jeremy was heard talking as he admitted: ‘I tell you what, I can’t wait to get out of that costume.’

The producer then walked on set as if he had made a huge mistake as Jeremy added: ‘Wait, we’re not on are we? can we, we can’t put that out there.’

A confused Storm asked: ‘Did you say something then?’

Viewers quickly rushed to Twitter to comment on the blunder – and while some were shocked, other viewers weren’t convinced.

One commented: ‘I always knew Jeremy Vine was Hedgehog.’

The Jeremy Vine Show has been approached for a comment.

The Masked Singer airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
