A CHEEKY bride has been shamed for asking her wedding photographer to work for 10 hours for free, in return for "exposure".
And no she's not a celeb or high profile influencer, the Chicago-based bride is offering contact with just 117 "unmarried guests".
The email, which has been posted on Reddit, asks if the snapper can "sponsor" their September wedding.
It reads: "We are asking your help to sponsor 10 hours of continuous photography coverage.
"In exchange, we will be showcasing your company to:
- 3000+ combined Facebook followers
- 300 total wedding guests
- 196 wedding guests based in the Chicagoland area
- 117 unmarried guests between the ages of 24 to 35 years old
- 73 parents with unmarried children between the ages of 24 to 35 years old
"Our wedding brochure will include your logo and contact information, which will be distributed to all 300 wedding guets.
"In addition, we will also have your company information posted in our Facebook wedding album as well as our wedding website.
"We greatly appreciate your help in creating our special day and look forward to connecting with you soon!"
And people are absolutely horrified – especially as they suspect the guests would expect a freebie too.
One commenter wrote: "If you did that, one of the guests will see the wedding brochure and contact you. The first thing out of their mouth would be, 'I heard you did the photos for my friends wedding for free. Can you do mine? No? But you did theirs for free'!
A second said: "$3,000 (£2,300) of photography services for 'exposure' to 3,000 guests sounds like a terrible payoff, advertising wise."
And a third commented: "if the person who recommends you doesn’t want to pay, what makes you think their guests will? It doesn’t help the photographer at all."
While a fourth said: "And then that guest will say that you are a scammer and that they will post a negative review online and tell all their friends about it too."
Another Redditor wrote: "Some people put so much effort in to begging for free stuff… Does make me wonder how many people it actually works for though!"
And someone else said: "Those wedding brochures are going straight into the trash. Wonder if they are paying for those."
Others felt the bride was completely delusional if she thought 3,000 Facebook friends was a big pull for a business.
One wrote: "if your name is Beyoncé you won’t have to ask people to give you free things for exposure, they’ll offer it. If you’re a nobody from nowhere with a couple thousand followers you’re nothing, a nobody. You have no bargaining power. Give your head a shake geez."
