Final Space follows the journey of astronaut Gary and alien Mooncake (both voiced by creator Olan Rogers) who make trips around the galaxy in a bid to find out where the universe ends. The Adult Swim and Netflix series originally came onto our screens back in 2018 and was renewed for a second which aired last year. So is there going to be a third season of Final Space?

Indie internet filmmaker Olan Rogers created the popular animated series three years ago and fans have so far enjoyed the past two seasons.

The comedy space show has also attracted numerous celebrities to get involved including former Doctor Who actor David Tennant and actress Jane Lynch who is probably best known for playing Sue Sylvester in musical series Glee.

So it’s no surprise fans are wondering whether there is going to be a third season.

Will there be a third season of Final Space?

Yes, Final Space will be back on Adult Swim and Netflix for another series.

The show was confirmed for a third season back in September, one week before series two came to an end.

Creator Rogers also teased in November they had started working on the upcoming episodes.

In a tweet, he said: “Writing B3GINS …”, referring to Final Space.

In the first season of Final Space there were just 10 episodes.

However, in the second series, there was an additional 13 so we should expect to see roughly the same amount of episodes in the next season.

There has been no official release date confirmed as of yet and both of the first series were aired at two completely different times of the year.

The first was shown in February 2018, while the second started in June.

However, the previous season was renewed in May 2018 and released roughly one year later, so we should expect to see series three around September time.

Rogers has also given fans more of an indication on what the next series will be about.

Commenting on a Reddit post, he said: “We started writing Chapter 24. It’s really thrilling.

“This next season will feel much more serialized. We are going to address a lot of things left unanswered in S1 & S2.

“Over the course of next season. It’s going to be much more space driven and less planet driven.

“The quiet moments that I love will be back and you going to learn something new about all these characters.

“I so excited about this story it’s going to keep you on the edge of your seats in a way you won’t expect.

“If S1 was about closing the breach. S2 was about collecting the dimension keys to free Bolo and save Quinn.

“S3 is very simple. It’s about survival. And escaping Final Space.”

The show’s creator has also expressed his idea of having six seasons’ worth of content.

He told ComicBook.com: “Like it’s a solid six seasons of ideas.

“I know we have pretty much a solid Season Three thought out but whatever happens with that, I don’t know.

“Hopefully, it manifests but I think it’s really kind of around that sixth season mark where it’s like this would be a good ending spot, but if we want to stretch it, we could.”

Final Space seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Netflix.
