Tonight sees the remaining six contestants take to the ice for the first time, and one in particular has opened up about the rehearsal process and how it has changed her bum for the better. Newsreader Lucrezia Millarini will dance on Sunday with professional skater Brendyn Hatfield but it seems the judges’ comments are already taking their toll on the journalist.

Last week viewers watched the likes of Joe Swash and Lisa George as they were introduced to judges including Olympic skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as well as Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo and new judge John Barrowman.

Tonight, the next six contestants will see how they fare against their fellow skaters, including newsreader Lucrezia Millarini.

However, it has now become clear that the rehearsal process has taken its toll on the Lucrezia.

Speaking to the press including Express.co.uk Lucrezia said: “I just think what is really surprising is how tough it is.

She continued: “It’s physically quite gruelling, you’re learning new things but mentally too because I want to be good at it.

“At the start I was cr*p it was so much harder than I thought, then something clicks and you start to learn it but it is a lot of one step forward two steps back.

“Once you’re partnered up you suddenly go from there to there and you go up a notch but you have to trust your partner completely especially doing lifts and twists.

“I’ve changed shape, my bum’s a lot firmer.”

Lucrezia isn’t the only celebrity who has seen a dramatic physical change, model Caprice Bourret revealed that she has lost a stone in weight.

She said: “I lost a stone girls, one stone. After my kids I couldn’t lose their fat patches but now…gone.

“When you’re doing something you don’t know if you’re doing it right and you don’t know if it looks good.

“Your body changes, my legs have never looked better, I’m loving it.”

Being on the ice however is nothing like reading the news live on television and Lucrezia was keen to emphasise she really had found the experience exhausting.

She continued: “It is a challenge, it’s probably one of the hardest things and it isn’t just the physical and mental side, but the performing side too.”

How will Lucrezia react when the judges give their first comments on her skating?

She said: “If it’s like (Jayne) Torvill and (Christopher) Dean criticizing you, you’re just gonna be like ‘Tell me more’ and ‘What can I do to improve?’ because that’s like gold, nuggets of gold.”

Elsewhere on the ice, judge John Barrowman was brought to tears as singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins and professional skater Matt Evers took to the ice as the first ever same sex partnership. John said it was so great to see a same-sex couple on the ice after so many years.

He explained: “I am [emotional]. “That makes me happy on a complete multitude of levels just because of seeing two men who represent someone who is like me.

“And, to skate as well as you did, you’ve done it now, the nerves are out of the way.”

Dancing on Ice continues on ITV on Sunday at 6pm.
