NANI attempted to force a move to Juventus from Manchester United in 2013 but left angered by his exit being blocked, the player has claimed.

Having fallen out of love with the Old Trafford outfit, the Portuguese winger set up a switch to Serie A in the summer of Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.

However he has now revealed that "at the last minute, as the market closed, United said no" despite all parties being in agreement.

Nani recalled to Tribuna Expresso: "When Ferguson left, I also wanted to leave.

"I thought it was the right time, because things had happened that did not make me happy."

The 33-year-old, now a star of MLS side Orlando City, was left irked by being dropped from the 2011 Champions League final team.

Park Ji-Sung was preferred down the left flank that fateful night at Wembley as Barcelona ran out 3-1 winners.

Nani continued: "That struck me a lot, I thought I should try another club to have another chance, in another league maybe.

"I had it in my head. Only it wasn't that easy, Manchester weren't going to let me go anywhere that easy.

"Unfortunately, I had an injury, after signing [a new contract] with Manchester because I knew I had no chance of going to any other club.

"I had a thousand and one proposals, but the club thought that by renewing my contract and giving me a good contract, it was all settled. I said OK."

Having stayed on and struggled to find his best form, Nani had the opportunity to start afresh in Turin.

The winger added: "There was no logic, even my colleagues said it was wrong. From one hundred I went to zero?

"You give me a multi-million pound contract and then you don't use me, what's up?

"After a while, I thought, if they did that to me, I really have to leave. I started to force it and what happened? I got stressed and had a big leg injury that took a long time to recover from.

"When I recovered I was going to Juventus, everything was moving, Juventus wanted me. The director said yes, the coach said yes.
