Louise Redknapp has reflected on the heartbreak she endured following the end of her marriage to ex-husband Jamie Redknapp.

The former Eternal singer, 45, and former footballer, 46, called time on their union in 2016 and share two sons Beau, 11, and Charley, 15.

As her two kids were away with her ex, the singer decided to take to social media to discuss her split from handsome Jamie in a rare candid post she posted at the end of the decade.

On her Instagram story, she typed: "I don’t often open up on social media, but tonight seems like a good time to.

"Creatively this year has been my best yet writing and recording my new album Heavy Love and performing in the west end, but emotionally it has been my toughest year and I’ve faced challenges I never thought I would."

She continued: “Heartbreak is a killer so I want to thank my boys, my family, my friends and all of you who have been kind over the last 12 months. So let’s take on 2020 like we mean it!”

Louise's heartfelt admission comes as Jamie soaks up the sun in Miami with their two children.

In snaps taken of the trio spending quality time together on the beach Jamie appeared relaxed and happy as he took part in ballgames with his boys.

Louise resurrected her music career after the end of her marriage, and is back with a new abum Heavy Love.

At the launch, Louise received a standing ovation and opened up about how she'd written about the tough times she'd gone through.

She told the crowd: "When you make a new album after 18 years it's so scary. As it was well documented I went through some really tough tough years.

"My mum always encouraged me to write down my feelings.
