BBC series Strictly Come Dancing is donning the sparkles for one last episode before the end of the year. A group of celebrities will be showing off their skills on the dance floor as they return to Strictly Come Dancing for the Christmas special. The festive special is a pared-down version of the main series but comes with all the glitz and the glamour.

Who is on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special 2019?

This year the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will be airing tonight (Wednesday, December 25) BBC One at 4.40pm.

There will be a total of six couples performing for the panel in the hopes of winning the Christmas trophy.

Each couple features former contestants who have appeared on the main show and will be paired up with a Strictly professional.

New Strictly pro-Graziano di Primo didn’t have a partner on the main show this year but will be getting the chance to show off his skills on the Christmas edition.

Also, Luba Mushtuk was without a partner on the show this year but is going to be on the Christmas special tonight.

Another professional who will be stepping into the limelight for the festive show will be Gorka Márquez, who didn’t have a partner.

Interestingly, this year will see two couples – who are dating in real-life – also performing together.

Gorka and his girlfriend Gemma Atkinson will be showing of their skills as will YouTuber Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell who met on Strictly last year.

The Yuletide special was pre-recorded which means the winner has already been chosen.

While fans will have to tune in and see who will win, there’s a good chance Debbie McGee could take the top prize after wowing on the main show last year.

However, she has some tough competition from Mark Wright who came in fourth place on the series.

Ahead of the Christmas special, Debbie spoke to The Sun about returning to the show and how her new partner Kevin Clifton really put her through her paces – even more so than her first Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice.

She said: “He’s reminded me of techniques and he’s taught me, given me some new tips and taught me a few new steps which I didn’t learn before.

“So he’s actually pushed me a little bit further time, and nearly killed me off some days!”

The show may be over for this year but fans can rest assured there will be more next year.

There will be a fresh set of stars hoping to waltz their way to victory.
