Dylan’s watching over them. The cast of the Beverly Hills, 90210 quasi-revival, BH90210, spoke candidly about the loss of Luke Perry on Monday, May 13.

“He’s been with us every step of the way,” Jennie Garth told the Associated Press at the Fox upfront in New York City on Monday.

While Tori Spelling and Gabrielle Carteris, who were standing by Garth’s side on the carpet, stayed quiet, they both nodded their head in agreement.

Jason Priestley, meanwhile, admitted that it’s “very difficult” to do the new series without Perry.

”Luke was a huge part of our 90210 family and personally Luke was a very large part of my life,” Priestley told the AP.

Ian Ziering added, “Yeah, you know, I’m still having trouble reconciling that. … It’s difficult. He was a good friend of mine.”

Perry died in March after he suffered a stroke. He was 52 years old. A month earlier, Fox officially ordered six episodes of the quasi-revival, starring Garth (Kelly Taylor), Spelling (Donna Martin), Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman), Priestley (Brandon Walsh), Ziering (Steve Sanders) and Brian Austin Green (David Silver). Shannen Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh for the first four seasons of the ‘90s drama, later signed on for the new series, which features the actors playing heightened versions of themselves trying to make a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot work two decades after the original show ended.

Carteris, 58, opened up to Us Weekly earlier this month about reuniting with her former costars for the first time without Perry.

“I had the cast come to my house [after Luke’s death] and then we’ve just been talking about it and sharing moments and we will dedicate this story to him, you know? We love Luke and it was really hard. It’s a sad thing,” she told Us on Thursday, May 9. “I miss Luke, so that was really noted, but it was wild. I felt like time.”

After the BH90210 cast — sans Doherty — appeared at the upfront on Monday, Fox released the first trailer. In the clip, the actors hear the original series’ theme song in random places, including an alarm clock, a coffee marker and hair dryer.

BH90210 is set to premiere on Fox Wednesday, August 7, at 9 p.m. ET.
