This Star Wars series takes our protagonist to a new planet, where the krill is plentiful but so is the danger. During episode four of The Mandalorian, viewers learned more about this lone gunfighter and why he can never take off his helmet. Has he finally found a safe place for this child? Here’s what you might’ve missed from the fourth chapter of the Disney+ series, entitled “Sanctuary.”

The Mandalorian travels to a quiet, secluded planet with the child
Turns out, there’s danger in almost every corner of the galaxy. This episode opens on a village as they farm for krill. Their farming is interrupted by gunfire and a raid of local thugs, who ruin their crops and shock a droid for seemingly no reason. The focus of this raid is a mother and her daughter, who hide in a pond, hidden by a wicker basket. They survive the attack, but their village is clearly in need of some help. It sounds like a job for the Mandalorian.
The focus shifts to the Mandalorian and the child on their ship, looking for a safe planet to hide on. The Mandalorian explains that they need lodging for a few months and they find a planet that’s fairly quiet and peaceful — the one from earlier. They land and together, head for a local eatery to figure out where they can stay.
The Mandalorian meets a new character, who is also hiding on this planet
Our duo head outside to grab him some soup at a restaurant, but he realizes he’s not the only fighter there. At another table, a woman wearing armor stares at the Mandalorian and when he looks back, she’s gone. He asks the waitress to watch the child and he goes after her and the two end up fighting, only to stop once soup-sipping baby Yoda shows up next to them.
They all sit down at a table, where the warrior explains she retired early from her work protecting delegates. She says she attacked him earlier because she thought he had a fob on her. Of course, that wasn’t the case, but she still claimed this planet as her hiding place. The Mandalorian heads back to his ship and gets ready to leave.
As he’s tinkering with his ship, the Mandalorian is approached by two farmers from the village. They tell him about the threats and that they need protection. In exchange, they can offer him lodging. He finds the other warrior, named Cara Dune, and they take the job together.
Cara Dune and the Mandalorian save the village from their attackers
The Mandalorian, the child, and Cara Dune arrive at this village and they’re welcomed with open arms. Mostly, the children, including the girl from earlier, are excited to play with baby Yoda. The mother is in charge of the Mandalorian’s housing and once he’s settled in, she asks him a few questions about his job. Viewers learn that he hasn’t taken his helmet off in front of people since he was a kid. But that’s okay with him because the Mandalorians took him in once his parents died.
After investigating the bandits, our warriors learn pretty quickly they’re in the middle of nowhere with bad odds. There are some ponds with the krill and the huts, but in terms of experience fighting, only one of the villagers can shoot a gun well. The biggest problem is the AT-ST, which used to be a weapon of the Empire. The Mandalorian explains that their best bet is to leave the village. To these farmers, though, that’s not an option.
As a result, they dig a pit for the AT-ST to fall in and they learn how to fight, thanks to the lessons from Cara Dune and the Mandalorian. When the time comes to stage an attack, they’re ready. Cara Dune and the Mandalorian provoke the bandits and the AT-ST to come to the village and, with the help of the mother and other villagers, they’re defeated.
Will the Mandalorian take his mask off?
A few weeks after the battle, the Mandalorian and Cara Dune are talking and he explains that he’s leaving the child here. The life of a bounty hunter isn’t safe for him. He goes to tell that to the mother and she asks him to stay, saying he can take off his armor and have a chance at a normal life.
Just as she’s about to pull the helmet off, he stops her and they’re interrupted by a shot in the woods. It’s Cara Dune, who shot a bounty hunter with a fob on a child. A little defeated, the child and the Mandalorian leave the village and Cara Dune, searching for a safe place.
