The Walking Dead fans were elated earlier in the year when AMC producers Scott Gimple and Angela Kang revealed a new show would be joining the post-apocalyptic story. At the time, it didn’t have a title, but received a trailer, which showed off a group of teenagers living in a world where walkers were no longer a problem.

Although the walkers were still around, they were cordoned off, as humanity had begun living in a huge gated community.

The trailer looks like the protagonists – the youngsters – will be adventuring out into the dystopian future to see what lies in wait for them.

Meanwhile, this weekend saw the midseason finale of The Walking Dead’s tenth season.

During the episode a moment with Judith Grimes (played by Cailey Fleming) could have teased exactly how the show will be going to end.

Whilst travelling to Oceanside with Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Luke (Dan Fogler), Luke could be heard singing.

He went on to tell the team it was one of his favourite classical songs, and then named it.

Judith listened with great interest, and went on to write it down in her notebook.

When asked what she was writing, Judith explained she has been documenting events, so people in the future would know what has been happening.

Although this part of the episode was handled as a throwaway line, it may be the key to finding out how the upcoming spin-off will be handled.

As one of the youngest members of the community, Judith – if she survives – will presumably be one of the people continuing the build the settlement in the future.

Because there is no internet, and no way of producing books – just yet – one of the only ways of remembering the past is through transcription.

Could Judith be the pillar of the spin-off show’s history?

And if she is, could she find herself in a position of power as the show continues?

The Grimes family have always been in a favourable position throughout their time in the zombie wasteland, starting with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), to Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), and now Judith.

Therefore, this small exchange may have been a subtle tease into what exactly is going to happen in the future?

Meanwhile, it has been teased by The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang that newcomer Virgil (Kevin Carroll) may have something to do with Michonne’s future.

His arrival was brought on by Siddiq’s (Avi Nash) death, and viewers will see Michonne struggling with that.

She told Entertainment Weekly: “Michonne’s struggling with the death of her friend, Siddiq.

“He was so tight with Carl (Chandler Riggs) and after Carl’s death, I think Siddiq took on a lot of significance, and that definitely plays into her story going forward, as well.”

The Walking Dead season 10 continues Sunday on AMC and Monday on Fox UK.
