A FIVE-WEEK-OLD baby was seriously injured and rushed to hospital last night.

Police have launched an investigation after the child was found badly hurt at a home in the Rockfield Gardens area of Mosside, Ballymoney.

Ulster Unionist Councillor Joan Baird told Belfast Live. "A five-week-old child is ill and has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

"I know the family concerned because I helped them a couple of years ago. They have been living in Mosside for some time and I just want to say my heart goes out to them this evening and I send them all my love.

"They have other children and I just want to say that I am thinking about them this evening and my thoughts and prayers are with them tonight."

Forensic officers were last night seen at the home as they launched an investigation.

Toys could be seen on the front lawn outside the home.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are currently investigating an incident in the Mosside area of Ballymoney."
