With the 2020 election less than a year away, 56 percent of voters expect President Trump to win reelection next November – including 35 percent of Democrats and 51 percent of independents, a poll released Wednesday found.
Among Republicans, 85 percent agreed, the Politico/Morning Consult survey showed.
And enthusiasm is high among voters to turn out at the polls on Election Day, with 81 percent saying they are “very likely,” 11 percent opting for “somewhat likely.”
In contrast, 5 percent said they are “not too motivated” and 3 percent said they are “not motivated at all.”
Asked if Trump was on their minds when they thought about the 2020 vote, 60 percent said “a lot/some,” 8 percent said “not much” and 32 percent said “not at all.”
Questioned about the top Democratic presidential candidates, 49 percent said they were thinking about Joe Biden “a lot/some,” 19 percent “not much” and 34 percent “not at all.”
On Sen. Bernie Sanders, 46 percent opted for “a lot/some,” 19 percent “not much” and 34 percent “not at all.”
Forty-one percent said they were thinking about Sen. Elizabeth Warren “a lot/some,” 18 percent “not much” and 41 percent “not at all.”
The poll was conducted Nov. 1 to Nov. 3 and surveyed 1,983 registered voters.
It has a plus/minus 2 percentage point margin of error.
