Parents of a newborn baby boy have been left devastated after they were told he only has days to live.
Harry Hampton has a life expectancy of just seven to 14 days after being born with a hole in his heart and severe valve problems.
His parents Joe and Michelle Hampton were told by doctors that his case of Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is one of the worst heart conditions they have ever seen.
Harry is two weeks old and his family are currently at a hospice in Chorley, Lancashire where the tiny baby is receiving palliative care, Lancs Live reports.
Harry's grandmother, Elli Hudson, said: "It is absolutely heartbreaking.
"It was a shock when we found out Michelle was pregnant but it was a lovely shock and at every scan she went to she was told everything was fine.
"The doctors told them it was the worst case of HLHS they have ever seen.
"Emotionally it is heartbreaking, Harry looks so perfect, it's just horrible to think that in the next few weeks he won't be here."
Michelle first found out that she was pregnant after visiting the doctors in February.
It was just three months after she had given birth to her first son Charlie Hampton, who is now a year old.
She said: "I was feeling really poorly and the doctor said I was pregnant.
"I said: 'no I'm not', that definitely took a couple of weeks to sink in. Harry wasn't planned but he is a blessing."
Michelle had a normal pregnancy but was required to attend regular growth scans after her other son Charlie was quite small at birth.
Nothing came up on the 12 or 20 week scans.
"The condition was picked up on at 34 weeks," said Michelle.
"They told me that Harry might have a problem, but they didn't want to say too much else.
"Soon after I was told that he had Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, I did what anyone would do when I went home and looked it up.
"I found out that it was operable and that there were quite high survival rates."
But on October 22, Michelle and Joe received some crushing news.
Their soon to be born baby had such a severe case of HLHS that the doctor's wouldn't be able to operate.
Despite the news, Michelle was keen to push ahead, giving birth to Harry at 7.45am on October 24.
She said: "It's so hard. We've had no time to get used to the idea, we've had 12 days with him so far but we are lucky with every day that we get.
"I don't think it has sunk in yet."
Michelle, Joe and the rest of the family know they don't have much time left with Harry but are savouring every moment.
"We are going to lose him any day," said Michelle.
"We've sorted most of the funeral and I'm strong at the moment but when it happens I won't be.
"When the time comes I can let go. I just want to thank Derian Hospice, they have been amazing."
Michelle and Joe want to raise enough money to take Harry to Disney Land Paris and to scatter his ashes there.
They are asking people to donate money to their GoFundMe page .
