JAKE Quickenden was rushed to hospital in Bali with a terrifying head injury after he slipped and fell beside a pool.

The Hollyoaks actor shared a photo of a horrifying gash on his head and revealed he needed 25 stitches in his scalp, as he told fans "life is short" and to "be careful".

Jake, 31, explained on Instagram on Friday morning that he had returned to social media to update people on his whereabouts following the horror fall on Monday.

He said: "Been quite past couple of days and I wasn’t going to post about this but if it can make someone be a little more careful then here it is, so Monday was with sophie laughing and joking and I jumped in the pool as I jumped I slipped and hit my head pretty bad on a step.

"It resulted in 25 stitches a CT scan and xrays on my neck which luckily all came back ok, oh and a really nice bald patch.

"I’ve been chilling past couple of days just in the room, it’s funny instagram can make it look like you’re having the best time (which I am apart from this) but I put a photo by a pool or at a restaurant and people think of wow looks amazing not knowing actually I spent 6 hours in hospital because I slipped.

"I’m pretty sore and feeling sorry for myself, but as I look back I was so lucky I’ll be fine in a week or so after I get the stitches removed.

"Sophie was amazing and looked after me, it’s scary how one minute you can be laughing and joking and the next in hospital… basically life is short but also please be careful sometimes a little loss of concentration can end badly!"

Jake's girlfriend Sophie Church could be seen resting a manicured hand on his shoulder in the photo.

She shared the same snap and told fans the incident was "extremely terrifying" and comforted her boyfriend, telling him she loves him and his "bald patch".

Messages poured in for the recovering Dancing On Ice star as fans wished Jake a speedy recovery.

One person said: "Wow man, that is SERIOUS. glad it wasn't worse and your ok…."
Jake has enjoyed a few trips away this year with stunning girlfriend Sohpie after they moved into their first home together.

He recently joined Hollyoaks and made his debut as sexy builder Woody.

Jake revealed he plays a builder called Woody and he is "a bit of a rogue" ahead of the show's Autumn stunt week.

He said: "He's been dragged in by Cindy to start work on a restaurant and he is a bit of a rogue, he's not really bothered about health and safety."

Jake watched the episode with his girlfriend, who he now lives with in Essex, and admitted seeing himself in character was "so surreal".

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
