DENISE Welch has revealed she spoke to Dale Winton during a session with a medium – and he told her she looked great for giving up booze.

The actress told Loose Women how the former Supermarket Sweep host had praised her for staying on the wagon.

The 61-year-old was on the ITV chat show speaking about receiving supernatural messages from loved ones when she spoke of her experience.

Denise admitted Dale came through instead of her mum when her friend saw a medium.

The Benidorm star said of the afterlife: "I'm a bit cynical but my friend went to see a medium and the person who came through to talk to me through her was Dale Winton.

"I was delighted to hear from Dale but he wasn’t as close to me as my mum coming through.

"Dale said, 'Denise looks much better since she's given up drinking,' which was lovely and thank you, Dale.

"But I still need a little more proof. We have the same birthday."

She continued: "If a feather comes down I don’t think that’s my mum sending me a message, but it makes me think about my mum."

Denise was friends with Dale and they often dined together in celeb haunts such as The Ivy.

The star was found dead at his new home in north London in April last year aged 62, sparking false rumours he had committed suicide.

In May 2018, his close friend Gloria Hunniford revealed that Dale had died alone in his bed after suffering ill health – she rubbished claims he had taken his life.

Denise has long suffered with her relationship with alcohol and gave up drinking seven years ago.

The former Corrie star marked the occasion on Twitter in April this year, admitting that giving up alcohol ‘saved’ her life.

She penned: "Today marks 7 yrs since I had my last drink. I hardly recognise the woman I was but I feel for her. Giving up saved my life."

Denise has previously explained the boozy night which pushed her over the edge.

She said: “I woke up sprawled over a car. Lincoln [her partner] had videoed me.

"I'd smashed the flat up, and he picked me up from the theatre that night, spoke to me all the way, told me that he loved me… I had complete blackouts.

"The door was off its hinges, I'd smashed the lamp. I had no recollection but I got defensive.

“He told me he loved me that possibly this relationship wouldn’t work now.

"This man was the love of my life and I gave up that night, and I've never touched a drop since.

"I am proud of myself, I'm proud of us both.”
