A girl with special needs who cannot speak was left covered in bruises after she was bitten by another schoolchild on her bus home.

Lillian Waldron, 10, who has the mannerisms of a two-year-old and is developmentally delayed, was travelling on an all-special needs bus.

Her parents Lynn Waldron-Moehle and Chad Waldron say she returned home ‘inconsolable’ and clutching her arm, which was covered in marks.

They are now furious that the bus driver, who they say Lillian was sat behind, didn’t do anything to stop the attack.

Lynn said: ‘She can’t tell them to stop, she couldn’t get away, because she’s in a five-point harness car seat.

‘She just had to sit there and take it and the bus driver wasn’t stopping.’

Lynn, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, told WSB-TV that she noticed the bruising on her daughter’s skin after giving her a bath to calm her down.

Green Bay Area Public Schools are now investigating video footage from Lillian’s journey home.

The headteacher told her parents the clip was ‘gruesome and horrifying to look at’.

Chad is now calling on the school to place more staff on the bus if the bus driver ‘can’t do it’.

Lynn said: ‘No other child needs to go through what Lilly went through.’

The Waldrons say the girl who allegedly bit their daughter has now left the school.

Lillian will now be travelling to and from school alone with two adults as a temporary solution.

In a statement, school district Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld said: ‘Several administrators and myself immediately reached out to the family and met with them to address their concerns and provide supports to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of our student.’
