Liza Koshy reacts while talking about her 2019 MET Gala experience on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night (September 23) in New York.

The 23-year-old went on the show to promote the second season of her YouTube series Liza On Demand, and also talked about getting her phone taken away from her father before gaining his blessing to keep making videos.

“My dad was completely confused by what I was doing online,” she told Seth. “I’m making videos, there’s strangers following me, there’s a million strangers following me making videos, that sounds serious. I had to clarify it to my dad, he sat me down, made me go through and delete every single one of my followers. Like block each one so they would stop following me, because he’s trying to protect me.”

“Then, my dad realized on a college tour, as I was ironically going to see a college, that another tour was following me along, and asking to take pictures with me,” she added. “My dad realized, “Oh my god, what she’s doing is having an impact on the world, and she’s doing different things. So he basically allowed me to continue making videos.”

“He’s the one, my brown father who’s made me academically focused my entire life, who made me delete followers at one point, who took away my phone… I ended up moving out to LA with his blessing.”
