MAURICIO POCHETTINO has fuelled speculation linking him with Real Madrid by admitting he wants to manage the club.

Pochettino is among the top targets identified by Real as their next boss if they lose patience with Zinedine Zidane.

And the Tottenham manager refused to dismiss the idea when he was approached by a reporter as he attended the Fifa Best awards in Milan.

Asked if he will ever take charge of Real, Pochettino replied: "Maybe some year."

Zidane is growing under increasing pressure at the Bernabeu despite the weekend win over Sevilla.

Last week's Champions League mauling at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain highlighted how far Zidane's side have fallen away behind the best teams.

And bosses at Madrid have already started to look at who would be around as a potential successor should they have to dump the man who led them to three successive Champions League titles in his first spell in charge.

Pochettino has been admired by president Florentino Perez for some time after turning Tottenham into Champions League regulars.

And despite only signing a new five-year deal with the North London club last season, the Argentine is seen as a viable option in Spain.

The 47-year-old has looked an increasingly frustrated figure since leading Spurs to the Champions League final last season.

He spoke openly about how disappointed he was with the way the transfer window was having a negative effect on his squad with several senior players linked with moves away.

And from the outside, all does not seem right at Tottenham given the club's poor start to the season which has seen them win just two games in the Premier League.
