Phillip Schofield is being tipped to make a return to broadcasting in 2024 after ITV "drew a line in the sand" over his exit from This Morning.

On Thursday, ITV released the findings of an external review into This Morning, following the scandal which saw the long-time presenter leave the show amid rumours of a feud with co-host Holly Willoughby and later admitted to having an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger colleague.

The review has since concluded that ITV made "considerable efforts" to find out the truth about an alleged relationship between Phillip and a runner on This Morning in 2019 but was "unable to uncover the relevant evidence" until Schofield's admission in late May 2023.

Now new reports have suggested the star may be making his return to showbiz in 2024 via national radio.

Britain's largest radio stations are said to be trying to bring Phillip onto their stations with a big money deal.

Phillip actually started out in local radio in New Zealand before joining the BBC, hosting a popular show on Radio 1 while presenting Going Live.

A source told MailOnline: "Now that a line has been drawn in the sand by ITV over the Schofield saga, attention will move on.

"Within a period of time there is now a place for Phillip to return, possibly not on TV yet, but there are now a myriad of opportunities for him on commercial radio where he will be offered big money to return to his first love.

"The KC's report gives him a fresh chance – but nobody will be surprised at all to see that ITV has found itself in the clear as it tries to save This Morning." OK! contacted Phillip's lawyer for comment.

The findings of the external review into the ITV daytime show were released on Thursday 7 December.

Phillip confessed to lying about the relationship to his wife, agent, viewers, and colleagues on This Morning.

A week after Phillip's confession, Jane Mulcahy KC was appointed by ITV to conduct an external review.

Phillip "reluctantly declined" to take part in an external review into the circumstances surrounding his departure from ITV because of "the risk to his health," a report says.

Jane Mulcahy KC added that she has been informed Schofield’s mental health has since deteriorated.

The report read: "ITV’s management made considerable efforts to determine the truth about an alleged relationship between PS (Schofield) and PX (the runner) following on from the publication of a story in The Sun newspaper in early December 2019.

"However, in the face of the denials of the individuals involved, ITV was unable to uncover the relevant evidence until PS’s admission in late May 2023."

The daytime programme continued to face scrutiny following Phillip’s departure, with allegations of a “toxic” environment.
