Woman and baby are rushed to hospital after ‘liquid was thrown on them in Lidl car park fight’

A woman and baby who had a liquid thrown over them during a fight in a Lidl car park last night were taken to hospital.

Police rushed to the scene at the Lidl in Gipton, Leeds, after reports a liquid was thrown over a woman and baby.

After West Yorkshire officers washed down the scene, and placed plastic sheets over the area, it was found the substance was not corrosive.

Initial tests have suggested it may have been antifreeze. 

A cordon was put in place with a heavy presence from the fire, ambulance and police services. 

A spokesman for West Yorkshire police said: ‘We got a call at around 7.16pm last night. The initial call was that people had been fighting and a liquid had been thrown over a lady.

‘My service attended and the liquid was found to be non-corrosive. We think it was antifreeze. 

‘The lady was taken to hospital with minor injuries.’
