BAND Sum 41 have cancelled a gig tonight after an “explosive device” was detonated near the concert in Paris.

The Canadian rockers revealed the blast happened outside the entrance to the Le Etoiles theatre in the capital.

ECHOES OF THE PAST

Tonight's explosion will evoke memories of the Bataclan terror attack in the city in 2015, which killed 90.

Three gunman opened fire during an Eagles of Death Metal concert, with ISIS claiming responsibility.

the band took to Twitter to confirm nobody was hurt in the explosion.

They wrote: "During load in for tonight's performance in Paris, an explosive device was detonated just outside of the venue door.

"Band, crew, the fans in line are all safe, are all safe, and there were no injuries".

"Due to the intimate nature of our 'Personal Space performances, we are unable to guarantee the safety of the fans in attendance."

The intimate venue, Les Etoiles – meaning The Stars – was created as a "café-concert" in 1882.

The band added there would be more information shortly, but didn't clarify whether the explosion was malicious.

Sum 41 first burst onto the alternative music scene in 1999, and followed shortly with certified platinum album, All Killer No Filler in 2000.

They're best known for karaoke-favourites, In Too Deep, Fat Lip and Still Waiting.

The band are currently completing the French leg of their latest international tour.
