  • Pizza Hut said trays were removed immediately following a ‘one-off situation’

Pizza Hut has launched an investigation into a photograph which claims to show dozens of trays stacked less than 2ft from a toilet in one of their branches.

Delivery driver Paul Finnis claims he took the picture at a branch in Inverness, Highlands, and said the toilet was being used as a ‘storage room’.

The 35-year-old said he was so disgusted by what he allegedly saw on September 2 he decided to share it on social media as a warning.

He wrote: ‘So this photo was taken last week in the Pizza Hut beside the bus station in Inverness.

‘As you can see they are using it as a storage room for pizza trays, where they cook stuff on, this is very unhygienic and could make people sick.

‘Share it, need to let people know not to order Pizza that’s come from a p***y tray!’

The photo shows a toilet with a stack of toilet roll beside it. Behind that appears to be a number of silver trays.

Across from the trays, is a large bag of granulite, used for softening the inlet water supply to dishwashers.

Highland Council said they had not received a complaint but encouraged Mr Finnis to contact their environmental health department.

Pizza Hut today admitted the trays had been removed immediately following a ‘one-off situation’.

A spokeswoman said: ‘We have fully investigated this isolated incident. We can confirm the trays were not being used in the Hut but being temporarily stored ahead of removal.

‘We have rectified the issue by removing the trays immediately and are confident that this was a one-off situation.’
