Pentagon is on LOCKDOWN with ‘several’ people shot – including a cop – at bus platform near facility’s metro station

  • Shooting took place on a Metro bus platform that is part of the Pentagon Transit Center
  • Arlington Fire Department said scene is active and its crews encountered ‘multiple patients’
  • Police are searching for suspect in connection with the shooting  

The Pentagon was on lockdown late Tuesday morning after gunshots were fired near a platform by the facility’s Metro station, resulting in multiple injuries.

At least one person was down, according to two people familiar with the shooting, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release information publicly. The person’s condition was not known.

Arlington Fire Department said the scene is active and its crews encountered ‘multiple patients.’

The Pentagon was on lockdown Tuesday morning after multiple gunshots were fired 

The incident occurred on a Metro bus platform that is part of the Pentagon Transit Center, the Pentagon Protection Force Protection Agency tweeted.

A Pentagon announcement said the facility was on lockdown due to ‘police activity.’

WJLA reported that Fairfax Police are actively searching for a suspect in the shooting.

Metro subway trains were ordered to bypass the Pentagon due to a police investigation.

An Associated Press reporter near the building heard multiple gunshots, then a pause, then at least one additional shot. Another AP journalist heard police yelling ‘shooter.’
