Husband of one of Boris Johnson’s key aides is fighting for his life after he collided with a lorry while cycling

The husband of one of Boris Johnson’s key aides was fighting for his life last night after a horror cycling accident.

Alex Finn, married to Downing Street deputy chief of staff Baroness Finn, suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision with a lorry.

Police and medics were called at 6.08am on Thursday in Primrose Hill, North London.

Scotland Yard said the driver was helping with inquiries.

The Met Police said: ‘The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.’ 

Mr Finn has worked for accountancy giant PwC since 1983. His wife Simone is a close friend of Carrie Johnson

The firm said last night: ‘Our thoughts are with Alex and we wish him a speedy and full recovery.’

He has two children with his wife Simone, who is a close friend of Carrie Johnson.
