FOUR children have been shot after a sick gunman stormed a graduation party and sprayed people with bullets killing at least one last night.

Police in Philadelphia, US, say the child victims are aged between 15 and 17 while the man who was killed was in his 20s, reports local media.

Three other adults, all aged in their 20s, were wounded in the rampage at 10pm local time near Paschall playground, in the southwest of the city, reports NBC.

The attacker sprayed bullets into a crowd of around 60 people who were celebrating a graduation, Police Commissioner Richard Ross said.

He added that there was no altercation at the gathering prior to the shooting and that investigators do not know whether the man arrived on foot or by car.

Authorities said that all seven injured victims, who were shot in various parts of their bodies, are expected to survive.

It is unclear if any of the wounded were celebrating their own graduation.

Police have not made any arrests but are trying to find CCTV footage of the sick shooter.

They are interviewing witnesses and hope to release a description of the gunman shortly.

The deadly shooting came at the end of a violent weekend for the city where three people were killed and 15 others wounded in separate shootings.

Commissioner Ross said: "What you got to get at is the hearts and minds of people who want to pull out a gun and fire at a group of 60 people.

"That's something that's even more troubling."
