A FORMER tour manager of the Happy Mondays has caught Covid in a hellhole jail where he is being held over an £80million drugs ring.

Anthony Murray was among 15 suspects held in Istanbul after 228kg of drugs were found on a ship from Colombia.

Turkish police claim he is nicknamed “The Doctor” and was in charge of the huge shipment.

But he is said to profess his innocence claiming to have travelled to Turkey for a “nose job”.

Murray, 52, was a pal of the Mondays’ Shaun Ryder, 58, in the band’s ’90s Madchester heyday.

Lawyer Onur Guler, who tried to visit him at Maltepe prison, said: “He can’t have physical contact with anyone.

"He’s not showing symptoms.”
