A MAN was arrested in Georgia on charges that he killed a man.

Adeodoyin Babafemi Odutola was arrested in Hepzibah last week.

He is jailed in Augusta awaiting extradition, according to the Associated Press.

South Carolina officials charged Odutola with murder, kidnapping and first-degree burglary in the death of Eldon. W. Ledford, the Associated Press reported.

Ledford’s body was found decomposing in the basement of a house in Jackson, South Carolina in November with his hands and feet tied.

His body was found after a neighbor reported a foul odor coming from a house that didn’t see any activity for several weeks.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl M. Ables ruled in February that Ledford died of blunt force trauma.

When police arrived, and officer found the back door open, a bloody shirt on the floor and open cabinets in the kitchen.

Burned documents on the stove and sink were also found, and other rooms were ransacked, the Associated Press reported.

A piece of furniture was blocking a door, but once it was removed, Ledford’s body was found.

Local CBS affiliate WRDW-TV reported that a few weeks earlier, police had visited his house for a well-being check after one of Ledford’s acquaintances asked them to check on him because no one had seen or heard from him in days.

Jackson police said when they got to his house, his car was in the driveway, and when they went into the home, they saw drawers had been pulled out in all rooms.

Police then called Fresh Market in Augusta, which is where Ledford was looking for a job at the time.

An employee says Ledford went there for a meat-cutting test and he was offered a position, but he never came back, WRDW-TV reported.

No one could find Ledford until police got the call about the smell.
