A naked woman stuck in an 8-inch space between two commercial buildings was freed after a more than two hour rescue mission.

The woman had wedged herself between the walls of an auto body shop and car stereo store located on N. Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana, California.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 2 pm Tuesday after nearby workers heard the woman cry for help, KTLA reports.

‘We heard a lady in the back, behind our shop, screaming, screaming, screaming,’ the shop owner told the news outlet. ‘We called the cops and the cops came in and got on the roof and looked between the two walls and she’s all naked.’

Fire crews could not reach the woman so they began a ‘cautious and technical operation’ in which they attempted to breach the wall using a drill.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, rescuers monitored and spoke with the woman throughout the drilling process. They also had to constantly ventilate the area.

Around 4:30 pm, after cutting a large area of concrete from the wall, crews pulled the woman out.

Officials say it was unclear if the woman was hurt, noting that she was alert and communicating with firefighters throughout the rescue. Paramedics took her to an area hospital for evaluation.

After determining there was no other way to reach the woman, firefighters used a drill to cut a hole in the concrete wall

Rescuers say it is unclear how the woman got trapped between the walls.

‘That’s a mystery to all of us here right now,’ Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Thanh Nguyen told KTLA.

Officials are also uncertain how long the woman was trapped for. Nearby workers told FOX 11 they heard cries for help for 20 to 30 minutes before they were able to locate the woman, saying the noisy area made it hard to pinpoint the cries.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Orange County fire and Santa Ana police for an update on the woman’s condition and additional information about the investigation.
