Dermot O’Leary kicked off the grand final of X Factor: Celebrity by announcing how fans could vote for their favourite to win the competition. He revealed there would be a public vote to decide which three of the final acts would get a chance to sing their second song choice. The public vote would then open again before a winner would be crowned. However there was no mention of the wild card act Simon Cowell had promised just a few weeks ago on the ITV show.

Confused by another rule change, fans flocked to Twitter to share their frustration at Simon’s decision to change the format again.

“@XFactorOnITV #XFactorCelebrity what happened to the wild card?” one asked.

Another continued: “Where was the public vote to bring back an act? Or did they finally use some common sense in this programme #XFactorCelebrity.”

“So no former loser coming back? HMMMM #XFactorCelebrity,” a third shared.

“What happened to the vote Simon promised where one eliminated act would come back as a wildcard in the final?? #XFactorCelebrity,” another said.

“#XFactorCelebrity this show has annoyed me changing rules over last few weeks so glad this is the last episode!!” a fifth shared.

Last weekend host Dermot explained: “There is no longer a wildcard for the acts who have been eliminated.”

The announcement came two weeks after Simon revealed he would bring back one of the eliminated acts.

“I tell you what we’re going to do, Dermot,” Simon began. “No-one’s agreed to this.

“When it gets to whoever’s going to be in the final, I’m going to put a public vote to whoever is the most popular loser into the final.”

In tonight’s show all three finalists performed a Christmas song before a vote to decide which three acts would get to sing their song of their series.

Megan McKenna is the odds on favourite to be crowned the winner and bag herself a record deal.

Bookmakers Coral have priced the reality star at 1/3 to walk away the champion while Max and Harvey are second favourites at 5/1.

The reality star has wowed judges and the public with her original heartfelt ballads and has yet to find herself in the bottom three.

Max and Harvey and Jenny Ryan, who is priced closely behind at 6/1, have also not had to sing again for their survival in the competition.

While girl band V5 are the outsiders of the final four at 20/1 after facing the sing-off on two separate occasions.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “Megan was 10-1 at the start of the series but punters quickly realised she was the one to beat and she was backed into the 3-1 favourite by mid October.

“She went odds on by the 5th of November and has just gone from strength to strength since.

“It would be a massive shock if she didn’t win and we expect her to get the job done in the final.

“Max and Harvey have been popular throughout and if there is to be an upset it looks like they will cause it, whilst V5 have had a nightmare week preparing and are the rank outsiders of the final four.”
