RAG'N'BONE Man burst onto the scene in 2016 and was named the Critics' Choice winner at the 2017 BRIT Awards.

The singer-songwriter won the Best British Single at the Awards a year later with 'Human', but what else do we know about the star?

Who is Rag'n'Bone Man?

Rag'n'Bone Man, or Rags, was born Rory Graham in Uckfield, East Sussex, on January 29, 1985.

His family later moved to Brighton, where he's still based.

Rags says a love of music was instilled in him from a young age, as his parents were big fans of grassroots records and his dad played guitar.

However, it wasn't until he discovered hip hop in his late teens that he got excited about the prospect of making music himself.

He told The Sun: “[Hip hop] really sparked my imagination in my late teens — stuff like Outkast, De La Soul and Pharoahe Monch.

"One of my mates used to make me mix tapes.

“Where I grew up there was only one CD shop and I didn’t really like school, so we’d register, then bunk off, and we would be round my mate’s house making drum-and-bass mix tapes.”

Eventually he started playing guitar and going to jam sessions, singing old blues and soul tunes, before he started writing his own songs.

He self-released a vocal EP called Blues Towns, and his girlfriend, Beth, sent promoters clips of him singing — some of them recorded on the toilet.

Soon he was getting booked for acoustics shows, including a gig supporting Joan Armatrading.

Is Rag'n'Bone Man married?

Rags married long-term partner Beth Rouy in May 2019 in an off-beat ceremony where bride, groom and guests all wore colourful leisure outfits.

The pair split after just six months after Beth was said to have become close to a friend.

Rags and Beth were together for 10 years and have a son, Reuben, together.

A year after the breakdown of his marriage, Rags started dating down-to-earth mum-of-three Zoe Beardsall, who works in a cafe near his home in East Sussex.

The singer was caught snogging his new girlfriend whilst out walking his dog in January this year.

How did Rag'n'Bone Man become famous?

Rags released several recordings through hip-hop label High Focus before signing a publishing deal with Warner Chappell.

In 2014, in collaboration with record producer Mark Crew, he released an EP, Wolves, through Best Laid Plans Records.

He followed it up with his EP Disfigured in 2015.

He had his first hit single in 2016 with Human, released on Columbia Records.

It charted across Europe, spending ten weeks in the top spot in Germany before it shot into the UK's top 40 after Emily Middlemas covered it on X Factor.

His debut album, also called Human, was released on February 10, selling 117,000 copies in the first week to become the fastest-selling male debut album of the decade — a bigger opening week than Ed Sheeran's debut album in 2011 or Sam Smith's in 2014.

Where did the name Rag'n'Bone Man come from?

Rags' nickname is a nod to the Sixties BBC sitcom Steptoe and Son.

He watched repeats of the show as a teen.

He came up with the handle Rag 'N' Bonez when he emceed with a drum and bass crew, reckoning it sounded like the name of a classic blues singer.
